The client had unsuccessfully sought planning and conservation area consent for the demolition and redevelopment of a church hall in the Bagnall Conservation Area.
The Council considered that the proposed replacement dwelling would fail the statutory requirement to either preserve or enhance the character and appearance of the Conservation Area and refused the scheme.
Hourigan Connolly lodged an appeal and demonstrated that the existing church hall was structurally incapable of conversion and also made a limited contribution to the Conservation Area.
